What to do when a plugin doesn't work!?

Well this, believe it or not, has happened a few times. I will here try to list the standard steps to getting it to work!

Problems with a certain plugin
(If step 1 did't get the plugin to work go to step 2... and so on)

  1. Update from within Decal Agent. This retrieves the three files which Decal kind of depends on (containing memory addresses and such).
  2. See to it you followed the instructions for setting up the plugin; if not go to 3.
  3. Uninstall the plugin*. Reinstall the plugin following instructions (be sure to click refresh afterwards).
  4. Uninstall the plugin*. Remove trash in the registry**. Reinstall plugin (again, be sure to click refresh afterwards).
  5. Uninstall all plugins*. Uninstall Decal. Clean up the registry*. Reinstall Decal (do step 1). Reinstall plugins (be sure to refresh).
  6. Contact acdev (Acdev Support Board, see TPP, left frame)... what i usually do.. be sure to read through what has been said on the boards before you ask a question.
Also you MUST read their FAQ on how to ask questions if you want a reply... and follow what it says!
  7. If it still doesn't work... don't use the plugin :P

If the problem is not with a certain plugin.
  1. Update from the Decal Agent's interface.
  2. Uninstall Decal. Reinstall Decal. Click Update.
  3. Uninstall Decal. Check for an update (TPP). Reinstall Decal and run Update.
  4. Contact acdev (Acdev Support Board, see TPP, left frame)... what i usually do.. be sure to read through what has been said on the boards before you ask a question.
Also you MUST read their FAQ on how to ask questions if you want a reply... and follow what it says!
  5. Don't use it...

(*) Uninstalling a plugin
Using the plugin's very own Uninstall program or: Start/Settings/(/control panel /)Add/Remove Programs, look up the plugin in the list and just... remove it.

(**) Cleaning the registry
  1. Click win+R, type "regedit", press Enter.
This opens up a program called... regedit! Won't go into this very deep just follow what I tell you and don't touch anything else. Just changing a 1 to a 0 in the registry could call for a total system crash! Be careful!! Regedit's interface reminds you of Explorer doesn't it? Well pretty much how it works...
  2. Click your way to (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Decal/Plugins/). Here you will see alot of "folders" named something like {fda86-cd08a-7faf5ca5-8fd5a}. These numbers is Decal's way to identify the plugins.
  3. Click on these you will see data in the right frame of the window. These are certain values stored on the plugin's installation and are quite crucial to the plugin's functionality.
You will see one of these fields is called (Standard) and holds a name. Another usually is called Surrogate and holds a hexadecimal value.
  4. Now we come to the cleaning... if any of the plugins lack a value in the (Standard)-field, then just target the folder, press Delete, and you're done!
  5. When you are done cleaning up, just close the window and refresh/restart the Decal Agent.
Good luck!
